Blue Wing Olive Parachute

Description:

The Blue Wing Olive (BWO) Parachute is one of the most trusted dry fly patterns in trout fishing. Designed to imitate the small, olive-bodied mayflies that hatch throughout the yearmost notably in spring and fallthis fly is a must-have for anglers targeting selective trout on rivers, creeks, and tailwaters.

Its slim olive body, divided tails, and parachute hackle create a natural silhouette that floats flush in the surface film, imitating a dun or struggling emerger. The white parachute post offers high visibility for anglers, even in low-light conditions or glare, while still keeping the fly subtle enough to fool cautious fish. The parachute hackle also provides the fly with excellent buoyancy, enabling it to ride evenly on riffles, seams, and slicks.

The Blue Wing Olive Parachute shines during cloudy days and cooler weather when BWOs hatch in abundance, often bringing trout to the surface in steady numbers. Fished on light tippet with a drag-free drift, this fly can turn refusals into confident strikes. Its balance of realism and visibility makes it one of the most reliable dry flies for year-round trout fishing.
