Description:
St. Croix Onchor Trolling Rods
The Onchor series represents a high-performance shift in the world of salmon and steelhead trolling. While traditional trolling rods rely almost exclusively on heavy, sluggish fiberglass, the Onchor utilizes a sophisticated hybrid construction. It is designed for the modern "precision" troller who needs the durability to handle a downrigger or heavy lead-core, but demands the sensitivity and weight reduction of a high-end casting rod.
Key Performance Features
- SCIII Carbon & Linear S-Glass Hybrid: This "best of both worlds" composition combines the high-modulus sensitivity and recovery of SCIII Carbon with the parabolic, "unbreakable" flex of Linear S-Glass. The result is a rod that is significantly lighter and thinner than traditional glass rods but retains the necessary cushion to keep barbless hooks pinned.
- Fortified Resin System (FRS): St. Croixs proprietary FRS technology combines a specialized resin with computer-controlled curing ovens. This prevents "micro-voids" in the blank, resulting in a rod that is 33% stronger than those made with standard methods.
- SeaGuide Atlas Performance SS304 Guides: These ultra-slim, stainless steel guides are designed to be "sea-tough." They are incredibly light, which keeps the rods action crisp, and are finished to match the blank for a custom, high-end aesthetic.
- Specialized Carbon Fiber Handle: A major departure from cork or EVA, the carbon fiber handle is extremely durable, easy to slide out of rod holders, and transmits vibration far better than foam. It is finished with an integrated rubber bumper to protect the rod and the boat.
- SeaGuide TCS Reel Seat: Featuring sandblasted hoods, this reel seat provides a textured, non-slip grip for the reel feet, ensuring your trolling reel stays perfectly seated during the high-torque fight of a King Salmon or high-jumping Steelhead.
