Hareline Dubbing Spinner Set With Hair Packer

Description:

What it is

The Hareline Dubbing Spinner Set With Hair Packer is a brass dubbing spinner with a brass wheel built for smooth, controlled spinning. The wheel rotates independently, which helps you keep a dubbing loop twisting evenly without fighting the handle. Its a durable, bench-friendly tool that also functions as a hair packer for stacking and tightening hair wraps on the hook.

What to tie with it

Use it to create and spin dubbing loops for shaggy bodies, thoraxes, collars, and brush-style loops you can wrap like hackle. It also shines when youre packing hair tightly for spun-hair heads and bodies, keeping clumps compressed as you add the next wrap.

Flies and the fish they're for

A dubbing spinner is a common way to build the buggy dubbing loop sections on caddis patterns like the G&H Sedge, which is fished for trout on rivers and tailwaters when adults are on the water. The hair packer side is the tool you reach for when youre stacking deer hair for cork-style bodies and spun-hair work, a style used on topwater patterns that get fished for bass in ponds and rivers, and also for similar floating hair-bodied flies used for trout in streams. Even when youre tying saltwater baitfish or shrimp patterns that use loop-spun materials for a dense collar, the same smooth loop control helps you build tough, fishable brushes for species like redfish and striped bass.
