Hareline Hopper Leg Cutter

Description:

What it is

Harelines Hopper Leg Cutter is a stainless steel tool made to punch out foam legs for terrestrial patterns. Its built to be durable and to give you precise, consistent leg cuts so your pairs match from fly to fly.

What to tie with it

Use it at the bench to cut foam legs for hopper and cricket flies, and for other foam-based fly patterns that want that same kicked-leg silhouette. Its a quick way to keep leg width and taper consistent so your proportions stay clean as you match foam bodies to hook size.

Flies and the fish they're for

This cutter is aimed at foam hopper and cricket patterns, the kind you fish for trout on rivers and creeks during terrestrial season, and for panfish on ponds and small lakes where surface bugs get crushed. Clean, consistent foam legs also show up on foam terrestrials fished for smallmouth in warmwater streams when theyre keyed on bugs on top.

How it compares

Compared to scissors, its faster for turning out uniform foam legs, especially when youre tying multiples and want the cuts to match.
