Hareline Lightnin Dub

Description:

What it is

Hareline Lightnin Dub is a flash dubbing with a coarse texture that throws a reflective spark while still looking buggy on the hook. It blends easily with other dubbings and builds bulk fast, so you can change the profile without needing a lot of wraps.

What to tie with it

Use it in a dubbing loop or twist it onto your thread for nymph, emerger, and streamer bodies when you want some flash without losing that rough, natural-looking texture. Its also handy as a blend-in ingredient to brighten up other dubbing mixes and to help a body stand a little prouder.

Flies and the fish they're for

Lightnin Dub is a straightforward choice for flashy nymph and emerger bodies that are fished for trout in rivers and tailwaters when you want extra visibility in broken light or off-color flows. In streamer bodies, that reflective flash shows up well for trout in rivers and lakes, and it also fits the same flashy bait role many anglers lean on for warmwater species like smallmouth in moving water.

How it compares

Compared with Hareline Ice Dub, Lightnin Dub has longer fibers and is easier to pick out for more length and movement after the fly is tied.
