Hareline River Road Gurgler Cutter

Description:

What it is

The Hareline River Road Gurgler Cutter is a purpose-built cutting tool for making gurgler-style foam bodies. It has a stainless steel blade with a sharp cutting edge, so it stays rust and corrosion resistant and gives you clean, precise cuts at the bench.

What to tie with it

Use it to cut foam into consistent shapes for gurgler bodies, then tie those foam pieces in as the head and floating back of the fly. Its a quick way to repeat the same profile from fly to fly without fussing with scissors once youve got your foam thickness picked.

Flies and the fish they're for

This tool is made for the Gurgler, where the cut foam body creates the surface-bug silhouette and that characteristic push and pop on the strip. Gurglers are a staple topwater fly for largemouth and smallmouth bass on ponds, lakes, and rivers, and they also see plenty of use for panfish in stillwater. In coastal settings, gurgler-style foam poppers are commonly fished for species like redfish over shallow flats when you want a floating, commotion-making profile.
