Hareline River Road Stp Frog Leg Cutter

Description:

What it is

The Hareline River Road STP Frog Leg Cutter is a purpose-built cutter for making frog legs for fly tying. It uses stainless steel blades to punch consistent leg shapes out of your tying material, so your pairs match and you can repeat the same profile from fly to fly.

What to tie with it

Use it at the bench to cut frog legs, then tie them in as splayed legs on topwater and near-surface patterns. Its a simple way to get clean, even legs for frog-style flies without trimming everything by hand once its on the hook.

Flies and the fish they're for

This cutter is made for the STP Frog pattern, a topwater fly thats commonly fished for trout, bass, and panfish when fish are looking up in warm-season conditions. On bass water its a surface bug for largemouth and smallmouth around bank cover, pads, and shallow flats, and on panfish ponds its a fun topwater option for bluegill and other sunfish. Trout will also eat a frog profile in the right places, especially in summertime when theyre willing to move for a surface meal.
