Hareline Smhaen Master Dubbing Twister

Description:

What it is

The Hareline Smhaen Master Dubbing Twister is a dubbing twister tool for controlling and spinning dubbing loops. It opens and closes to control the loop, then spins smoothly and tight, with a precisely balanced feel and a built-in plier grip.

What to tie with it

Use it to build and manage dubbing loops, especially when you want a tighter, stronger rope of material than you can get with simple touch-dubbing. Its handy for complex dubbing methods like stacking different fibers in the same loop, then spinning them into durable bodies, thoraxes, collars, or brush-style wraps.

Flies and the fish they're for

A dubbing twister like this shows up constantly in soft-hackle and wingless wet fly tying, where a spun loop can make a tough, mobile thorax or a buggy body for trout in rivers and spring creeks. It also fits right into modern nymph and streamer tying, where dubbing loops get spun into brushy collars for trout, smallmouth, and even saltwater species when youre building bulk and movement without adding much weight. If youre tying tiny midges or going up to larger flies, the open-close loop control helps keep the loop manageable while you load materials and spin them tight.
