Hareline Stonfo Elite Vise

Description:

What it is

The Hareline Stonfo Elite Vise is an in-line rotary fly tying vise built around a stainless steel shaft and a ball bearing rotary system. At the bench it rotates smoothly, the rotary tension is adjustable, and you can lock it at any angle. It sits on a stable, heavy pedestal base and the vise can be set up in a reversible orientation.

What to tie with it

This is a workhorse setup for true rotary tying: wrap materials with the hook spinning in line, place ribbing evenly, and palmer hackle with consistent spacing. It also shines for shaping bodies, finishing heads, and placing dubbing cleanly because you can stop and lock the hook exactly where you want it. When you need tight thread pulls or youre leaning into heavy streamer tying, the stable base and lockable angles help keep everything from walking around on you.

Flies and the fish they're for

With its rotary control and solid hold, this vise is comfortable for everything from small, technical trout flies up through bigger streamers that get fished hard for predatory fish. Tie small trout patterns in the midges-and-mayflies hook sizes and youll appreciate being able to lock the hook for precise thread placement and neat head finishes on rivers and tailwaters. Step up to heavy streamers and youve got the stability for patterns commonly thrown at trout and smallmouth in rivers, and also larger baitfish styles used for stripers or inshore salt species when youre building bulkier bodies and pulling thread tight.
