Hareline Stonfo Leader Straightener

Description:

What it is

The Hareline Stonfo Leader Straightener is a compact tool for taking coils and memory out of fishing leaders. It has a lightweight, durable plastic body with two rubber pads that pinch the leader and let you pull it straight without cutting or scuffing it. The ergonomic grip makes it easy to hold onto while you tension the line.

What to tie with it

This isnt a tying material for the hook; its a bench-and-streamside tool for leader prep. Use it to uncoil a fresh leader out of the package and to remove kinks or curls that show up after storage, cold weather, or repeated casting. A straighter leader helps your knots seat cleanly and helps the leader turn over the fly the way its supposed to.

Flies and the fish they're for

Because its a leader tool, its relevant to basically every fly you fish rather than a specific pattern. It matters a lot on dry flies and nymph rigs for trout on rivers and spring creeks, where coils in the leader can kill drift and make takes harder to see. Its just as useful with streamers for smallmouth and trout, and in saltwater for species like redfish or stripers where clean turnover and accurate casts count.
