Mayhem Midge

Description:

The Mayhem Midge is a slim profile nymph/emerger designed to mimic small emerging midges and baetis (blue wing Olive) mayfly nymphs.

Key Features:

• Wing Case: A thin strip of razor foam (often 1mm or 0.5mm) is folded over, which acts as a buoyancy aid and trigger point, allowing it to be fished effectively in the surface film or as a deep nymph.
• Body: Usually a slim, segmented body created with thread and fine wire ribbing (e.g., small gold or olive wire).
• Tail: A small, minimal bundle of Antron yarn.
• Thorax/Legs: Peacock herl is often used, sometimes accompanied by grizzly hackle fibers or simply the folded foam for a cleaner profile.
• Hook: Commonly tied on a #16-#22 curved nymph hook or dry fly hook, often a down-eye hook for easier finishing
