Hareline Adult Damsel Body

Description:

What it is

Hareline Adult Damsel Body is a rigid, tubular damselfly body material made to slide onto the hook and give you a clean extended abdomen. Its waterproof, you cut it to the length you want, and you can burn the ends to finish them. It also takes marker well when you want to add segmentation or tone.

What to tie with it

Use it for extended damselfly bodies where you want a stiff, shaped abdomen without building it up in thread or dubbing. Most tyers cut a section to size, mount it as the rear body, then finish the fly normally up front with your thorax, legs, and wing treatment. Because its tubular and rigid, its handy for keeping the body profile consistent from fly to fly.

Flies and the fish they're for

This material is right at home on adult damsel patterns meant for trout in stillwaters, especially when fish are keyed on adult damselflies cruising the banks and weed edges. It also fits damselfly imitations like the Borger Damsel style of adult, which is a lake fly for trout where damsels are a summer staple. If youre tying quick, silhouette-driven adult damsels in the King Julien vein, a rigid, waterproof extended body like this gives you that long abdomen profile that gets noticed by cruising fish.

How it compares

Compared with closed-cell foam or backing built into an extended body, this is less convenient in exchange for a different look and a more rigid, tubular shape. The ability to burn the ends and mark it up is a nice advantage when you want a finished, segmented body without extra steps at the bench.
