Hareline Tarantu-Leggs

Description:

What it is

Hareline Tarantu-Leggs are round rubber legs with a bold barred pattern built into the material. The round profile gives you a clean, consistent leg or feeler shape, and the rubber stays lively in the water. Theyre easy to handle at the vise whether youre tying one pair of legs or loading up a whole skirt.

What to tie with it

Use them for legs on hoppers and other terrestrials, tails on nymphs, and antennae on shrimp and crab patterns. Most tyers tie them in as straight cut segments on the sides of the hook, or as paired legs through a figure-eight wrap, then trim to length. They also work well as short kickers on streamers where you want movement without adding bulk.

Flies and the fish they're for

Turks Tarantula is a classic use of Tarantu-Leggs, and its fished for trout in rivers and stillwaters when big buggy terrestrials are on the menu. That same leg material also fits right into hopper and terrestrial patterns for trout and panfish on creeks, rivers, and ponds, and into shrimp and crab patterns for common saltwater targets like redfish in the flats. On the streamer side, barred rubber legs are a simple way to add motion for smallmouth and largemouth bass in rivers and lakes.

How it compares

Compared to Hareline Round Rubber Legs, Tarantu-Leggs give you the barred look when you want that segmented, buggy leg impression. The plain Round Rubber Legs are better when you dont want barring, including smaller ant-style terrestrials.
