Description:
What it is
Loon Swax High Tack is a dubbing wax you apply to your tying thread to make materials grab and stay put. Its extra-tacky with high adhesion, but it stays pretty mess-free at the bench and it washes off easily when youre done.
What to tie with it
Use it any time you want dubbing to bite hard on the thread, especially when youre working with fine threads but still trying to build a bulkier body. It also helps you control slippery materials and keep them from spinning or sliding as you wrap and position them.
Flies and the fish they're for
This is the kind of wax you reach for on dubbed bodies where you need a lot of material to stay locked onto a thin thread, which shows up across trout flies from small dries to nymphs. Its also handy on larger freshwater and saltwater patterns when youre blending dubbing into heads or collars and you dont want things migrating while you build and whip finish. Even though specific patterns arent listed, the use case is consistent: tighter dubbing control for trout on rivers and spring creeks, and for warmwater and salt species when youre trying to keep fibers and blends exactly where you tie them.
How it compares
Compared to other waxes, it leaves less residue behind and cleanup is easier, while still giving you the extra tack you want for dubbing adhesion.
