Description:
What it is
Danville Spiderweb 16/0 is an ultra-thin fly-tying thread built for low bulk on the hook. That fine diameter lets you bind materials down strong while keeping a smooth, clean underbody, which matters most on tiny hooks and any pattern where thread buildup shows.
What to tie with it
Use it when youre tying very small flies and need thread control without crowding the eye, especially on midge, Trico, and tiny BWO patterns. Its also a good choice any time you want a clean, smooth foundation under slim bodies or ribbing. At the other end of the spectrum, it works well for building neat underbodies on full-dress salmon flies where you want strength without lumps.
Flies and the fish they're for
On the water, this thread shows up most in small mayfly and midge work that targets picky trout in clear rivers and spring creeks, where Tricos and tiny BWOs are a daily deal. Its also right at home in micro midge patterns for trout during winter tailwater midge hatches. For full-dress salmon flies, its used in the underbody work for Atlantic salmon presentations in salmon rivers.
How it compares
UNI Caenis is even thinner than 16/0 Spiderweb at 19/020/0. UNI Caenis comes on a 200-yard spool, while Spiderweb is on a 100-yard spool.
