Hareline Mirage Flashabou

Description:

What it is

Hareline Mirage Flashabou is a bundle of color-shifting flash tinsel strands used to add hard, iridescent shine to a fly. The fibers are holographic and highly reflective, so they throw different flashes as the fly moves and turns. Its built to hold up, so it stays fishable after a lot of casts and a lot of teeth.

What to tie with it

Use it as flash accents mixed into wings and tails, or tie it in as a full wing or tail on baitfish patterns when you want a strong, reflective trigger. It also works well as body material by wrapping it like tinsel or layering it along the shank, and its common to blend a few strands into predator streamers, salmon flies, nymphs, and even jig-style flies for added attraction.

Flies and the fish they're for

Mirage Flashabou shines in baitfish imitations and predator streamers where that holographic, color-shifting flash helps sell the idea of fleeing scales. Those are the kinds of flies youd fish for trout and smallmouth in rivers and lakes, and for species like striped bass and redfish anywhere theyre keyed on small bait. It also fits right into salmon flies, where a little extra flash can help fish find the fly in bigger water.
