Hareline Premo Turkey Flats

Description:

What it is

Hareline Premo Turkey Flats are turkey flat feathers with soft, even fibers and clean tips. Theyre lightweight on the hook but durable enough to handle tying pressure and fishing abuse. In the water they stay slim and natural-looking rather than adding bulk.

What to tie with it

Use them for upright posts and parachute posts, and for classic dry-fly wings where you want a neat, even silhouette. They also work well on thorax-wing dry flies, where the feather becomes the visible wing over the thorax. Some tyers also use turkey flats for things like tails and slim nymph bodies when they want a feather fiber look and consistent tips.

Flies and the fish they're for

Royal Wulff wings up cleanly with turkey flats, giving you that high-floating, easy-to-see dry thats fished for trout in rivers and streams and for grayling where theyre found. As a general wing and post material, turkey flats also show up on a lot of attractor and parachute-style dries that get fished to rising fish in moving water, especially when you need a durable, lightweight wing that keeps its shape through multiple fish.

How it compares

Turkey flats can stand in for calf body hair when you want an upright wing or post but prefer a feather fiber wing with softer, more even tips and less bulk.
